Audio Player and TinyMCE HTML Editor for Django based website Poobah.com

Adding an audio player to a website can be a simple to complex task, there are many possibilities. For the Into Infinity project, intoinfinity.org, sponsored by Dublab and Creative Commons, we needed a player that would cleanly loop an 8 second audio sample, and be able to play multiple tracks simultaneously. For music.vtechphones.com we needed something that would be embeddable onto other websites and blogs. In the case with poobah.com, what we need is something simple, and the WordPress Audio Player fits the purpose. This isn’t a WordPress website, however the audio player can be used on any website, and they have a page detailing how to do that at: WordPress Audio Player – Standalone Version.

Remembering HTML tags and syntax can be debilitating especially if it’s not your expertise. For that reason visual HTML editors are important in the ease of use and efficiency for website admin interfaces, as most people who will be editing the information on the website are likely not experts at HTML, but experts on the subject matter of the website, and in any case the focus is on writing, and not HTML, so the more the HTML can get out of the way, the better it is of an interface. Aiko and Logan have started a project called United by Football. It’s promotional elements are photographic panoramic interactive photos of fans and players of the game. It’s part fine-art, journalism, tech, and studio. Everyone is a superstar! I helped get the Wordpress blog online. UnitedByFootball.com. How better fitting than to get things up the day the World Cup 2010 begins.

I was brought in by designer and fellow Art Center alumni Deniz Orhun to setup and develop a new workshops section for raksasala.com website. It’s using the Events Calendar 3 plugin, post thumbnails, the More Fields plugin, and a custom taxonomy.

New Events Section on Mochilla.com

We just got up a new events section for Mochilla.com. I added a ‘date’ column to the existing documents mysql table and an interface to be able to add/edit events via the browser. It took about a day and half to complete.

Mochilla Website Update

We just got up a new landing page, and product page for the Timeless Concert Series new Box-Set to be released soon. It was a quick turn-around of about 2 days from initial call to having the new page up. This work included, setting up a development site, modifying an already existing template file, and style sheets, and making a graphic for the homepage.

Pink Cloud Events TEDActive Video Update

Just updated the Pink Cloud Events website with a new video. My work consisted of encoding the video into 3 different sizes of both Mp4, and Ogg using FFMPEG, and FFMPEG2THEORA at optimal bitrates. Both Mp4 and Ogg filesizes are nearly identical in filesize and quality. This implementation of the video on the web uses the default HTML5 video player controls provided by the browser. I then use JavaScript to detect if HTML5 is available and if not I replace it with a Flash video player, except for Safari which is known to have poor HTML5 video playback support. This was a quick turn-around of one day.

Interactive Video Website for the Walldogs

I’ve been working with Logan for a couple of weeks getting this new site up and ready. There are still a few bugs we need to work out with a few browsers, but if you’re using Firefox, Chrome, Safari there shouldn’t be many problems. The website uses a lot of JavaScript for the timing of events, and for DVD menu like navigation. Take a look, and be entertained.

Update: Browser issues should be resolved, if you spot anything please let me know, and what browser you are using.
